(Coke in Africa!)
(Jack Fruit or Fenne)
Okay there is a lot to say and not as much time so I will do my best. sorry if I do not answer well.
You can send pachages to the mission office. To the Nikawa House. If you send anything make sure to declare the value to be like $10-15 no matter what is inside. Yes send a ton of sour patch kids, candy, and any other sweets!!! drink mixes are a bonus as well! just pack it full and only send one because it will cost you a lot of money...
I want the address to alex's blog!
And please give Trey and Kaylan my email and tell them to email me. Also send their email to me. and wish kaylan a happy birthday for me! it's on the 18th.
So the first thing I want to say is this week is going much better! I am starting to get a tight grasp on the way of living and teaching here. Even the Language. (which is Lusoga) I can greet people now! "Jabaly Cosablo!" which means how are you sir. then you say "Calle" and "humm" alot after.. haha and its different for girls and children and Jaja's. Super legit. I hope that everyone had a wonderful valentines. Elder Lloyd and I bought suckers and took them around to our investigaters. they loved loved it because they don't get them often!
I had my first horrible eating expirience.... Mama Ieta made us Motokay and Mukenay. Motokay is a really hard banana that they boil and it taste like mashed potatoes. it's super wierd. and Mukenay is little fish... I love fish, but this is like little minnows they use for bait. mama Ieta boiled the fish and banana's together and poured it into a big bowl... Here if you do not finish food they are very offended and like yell at you for 10 minutes... The smell of this food almost made me throw up! it smelled like rotten fish wrapped in BO! I Tried to just eat the banana... The whole time I was on the verge of barfing... My companion, seeing I was struggling, texted elder Mofokend who is in our district and said call us and tell us to leave! haha so he called elder lloyd and then we told mama Ieta we had to leave... she was furious and demanded that we finish the food.. My stomache was dropping the whole time! luckily we ended up leaving without finishing, but she was furious. I felf bad and Humiliated that I couldn't eat it, but that was gross!!! I know I would have thrown up....
A man extremely high was walking down a road yelling bad things at people... When we passed him he was with 2 other teenage boys and the kid that was high yelled the F word at us. I got really tense and I wanted to punch him so bad... It's a good thing I didn't.. instead we talked the the teenage boys that where with him (Edward and Mark). We ended up teaching them the doctrine of Christ and now we have 2 new investigaters! good thing I didn't punch that man! I am sick of vulgur things being said to us Mazungus though. But Everytime I feel that way I know it is not feelings of Christ and I try my best to repent and pray for strength.
Haha My lazer has come in handy! I shine it down paths and roads and people like freak out and are so confused! Elder Lloyd and I always have a good laugh. It is necissary to find joy in the little things or you will go crazy! Like Pday. Pday is a blessing! It is nice to relax and refresh yourself for the week.
We played monopoly as a district last night until midnight! haha I love that game! and then we woke up at 6:30 and played it again! It's a good game! Also I have bought 2 soccer jerseys here! they and super super cheap and are way cool! I still dont like soccer, but that's all they have here and I like them.
WOW we haven't had filtered or tap water or electricity all week... It has been really hard but at the same time it is fun!!! I have had to boil all our drinking water besides a few water bottles and I have been warming up water on the stove and using that to bathe with as a pour water on me with a bowl in the bathroom.
Dad's mission pictures are so similar to mine it is crazy! I think his living conditions might be worse though because I have a bed! haha sucks for him! just kidding, but the people and the green plants look a lot like mine! and I can shower inside! I have Eggs, and Chipatee everyday... Flour and water and salt mixed and flattened like a tortilla. It's actually really good! I will make some when I get home.
We do service tuesday, thursday, and saturday mornings at 10. This week we used hoes and dug up ground for planting! and them we made a long drop(outhouse) out of sticks and banana leaves! It's pretty cool!
It has rained everyday! my shoes are always muddy! haha and when it rains it pours. It's not like rain back home. And ugandians hate the rain! The best time to go finding is in the rain. 1 they will invite you in their homes so you dont get wet. 2 they respect you if you wear nice clothes and you are in the rain. It's nice to have respect because a lot of people dont respect us here.
The people think america is boring. they think we dont have trees, machines do everything for us, we have no fruit, and so many wierd things...
I want to know what is going on with the whole gun rights thing and about the shooting in conneticut!
It's super cool to meet families and connect with the people here. We have 2 investigators getting baptized this sunday. Mary and Shira. Mary is 13 and Shira is 9. they are both really spiritual and ask awesome questions!
Im running out of time!!!
Love you all,
Elder Halladay
