Week 16: Ntinda, Uganda

This week has really flown by... It is hard even for me to recall what exactly happened! One certain situation that sticks out to me than any others in a Baptismal Interview I had with a young man named Muhozi. He is 19 years old and from Rwanda. He lives with his mother who is a widow.(who also I interviewed last week-Jennifer) He sells clothes in a small show and was Muslim growing up.

As we were going through the standard procedures and questions that we ask in the Interview it turned more in to a discussion. We were able to ask, answer, and go in depth with all the questions and commitments.  This young man, who has only believed in Christ and was made known about his plan for us just a few short weeks ago, had one of the most powerful testimonies I have ever heard and felt. He told me the Restoration, and commandments better than I heard most missionaries say them. He compared himself to Joseph Smith. He said that growing up his mother was christian and his father was Muslim, and he didn't really know what to do and was looking for the right one to join, and that is when the sister missionaries found him. He said that when he heard about the gospel of Jesus Christ it made perfect sense to him and filled his doubt and confusion. We sat and talked about how our life on earth is all in preparation for the second coming of christ. About how we love our family and friends and even pastors, but they aren't the ones who will take us to heaven. It is only through Christ that we receive Salvation. We talked about how we need to be strong in keeping the commandments of the Lord and remember that he is the one who we constantly need to be making proud and happy. I really enjoyed talking with Muhozi, and in a very real sense both of our testimonies and knowledge of the Lord were Strengthened! There is nothing in life that I love more that My father in Heaven and his Son Jesus Christ. I can not even begin to express the joy that comes to you as you see others testimonies blossom and the light of Christ fill their hearts. I was able to witness his baptism and embrace him immediately after. He was literally glowing and warm with the spirit of God.

I also was blessed this week by Souer Kupfer! I got a package from her that she sent off when she was in the MTC and ripped it open to find treats, notes, pictures, and me 2 favorites, A French Hymn book with my name on it and a T shirt of France! I wanted to be sure to express my gratitude to her for her love and effort she always extends to me! thank you my dear Sister Kupfer!
