Well this week was Transfers and I am now the Zone Leader in a place called Gulu. They gave me a truck as well. I white Hardbody, manual, 6 speed. haha it is legit. let me tell you a little about the area… This is the most Northern part of Uganda. They don't Speak Luganda which I was close to speaking fluent, and now they speak a language called Acholi. they are a lot darker that the Muganda. they are black. they are extremely humble... I know many of us have heard of the the man Joseph Kony or the whole Kony2012 project? Well this is the area
Where Joseph Kony killed thousands. In the 90's he had his rebel group and he would go and kill everyone in Gulu where I am.. Everyone I teach has been effected by this man... It is sad and put this area a few decades behind the rest of Uganda. This place is like serving in the Lion King cartoon! it is the jungle and I teach everyone in a mud or a grass hut! It is so awesome. We have a zone conference 8 hours away and a drive there and back and just got back to Gulu about 2 hours ago. on the way home i pulled off the road and came to a family of about 40 giraffes and drove right up on them! also I saw baboons, Kudu, Kobs(african type deer) Warthogs, small monkeys, water buffalo and others I don't know how to describe. this is my area in the real
jungle! I went on a little safari driving through the grass up on all these exotic animals... wow it was incredible. our area is so far away from everyone else and I love it! I love my zone as well! we all stay in the same compound and are all so tight already. I am companions with Elder Erickson from Lehi as well. I am his 2nd companion. He is not the other Zone leader though it is Elder Ngesi from Grammstown south africa. super cool guy! I am extremely happy to be where I am! I love drive sometime too. on the 8 hour drive it was pouring rain and it was like mudding in the mountains! it was legit! 3 zones slept at a huge church and the americans taught the africans how to Play capture the flag and we did that all night last night. I met and got to get taught by Elder Hamilton of the 70 at the Zone Conference. what a powerful and wonderful man. I am so happy right now and honestly nothing could change that! we found 8 people on Friday and Saturday and they all came to church! we should already start Baptizing soon! Wow the Lord is Great! I love my mission so much!!!
