Week 47 | Gulu, Uganda (Christmas)

(presents sent from Elder Halladay to our family!)
 (Skyping Elder Halladay)

Merry Chrismas! and a Happy New Year,
We had a wonderful Christmas here in Uganda! We woke up on Christmas
Day and have a Zone Service project for the Security Guards in our
compound and after we had a legit breakfast with the Senior Couples
the Moores. and then Elder Mbobosi(the other ZL) gave all the
missionaries Zone T-shirts for their gift! They were really cool! then
I got to Open My Christmas Packages from My family, the Kupfers and
Sister Kupfer, so still my family!!! Then at night I got to Skype my
family!!! WOW it was so nice to see and talk to everyone! I can't
believe that I am Half way... Time sure does fly! We also got to Watch
the Grinch for Christmas and that flooded in so many memories!
The next morning Elder Mbobosi and I drove down to Kampla for our MLC,
then the next day we went to the mission home and received direction
and guidance from our Mission President(Chatfield) It was so inspiring
and Helps me to see exactly what I need to do, to help the
missionaries in Gulu. That night we went to a Chinese restaurant
called Nanjings and Then late that night Many people got food
poisoning... I being one of them. So I was throwing up all saturday
night!!!

Sunday was incredible... I got to visit the Ntinda Branch for
Sacrament meeting. That is my old area! I arrived 10 minutes to
10o'clock and immediately got to see so many members and many of My
Recent Converts for that area!!! As I saw the Branch President he told
me I will give a talk and I gladly Accepted, so I pulled something
together and felt inspired to talk about Fighting off the Natural man,
and Resisting sin and temptation early! I told a story of a beautiful
Lark bird who slowly by slowly traded one of his many feathers to get
a worm from a man in the forest. overtime it didn't hurt to pull out a
feather and the satisfaction and reward that came from giving a
feather overcame any pain or worry.... One day he pulled out one of
his main feathers in his wing and could no longer fly... He couldn't
get back to the top of the trees where he so loved to be and had to
walk around and search for food to survive... i related that to
sinning and how overtime sin is a natural and everyday thing, but if
we keep it up we will never be able to fly and get back to the top...
I had a wonderful holiday and Was grateful to reflect back to the
Birth of Christ and The Hope that he gives to all mankind. I am
blessed to be a member of the Only True Church of God and To be a
fellow citizen of the household of God!
Have a wonderful New Years!
